Eastbourne Conference

Eastbourne Conference

The Annual District 1130 was held at Eastbourne during October. Several members of the Club were there, staying in the same hotel. This enabled us to have some good company and more than our fair share of laughs and good times together. The weather was exceptional for the time of year, although a bit cold in the evening. The Conference was well attended and we had several keynote speakers, including someone who had been a GSE team member some many years ago. He said that the immediate benefit from GSE was not totally apparent to him, he had had a great time, but it was not until a couple of years later that he realised that the GSE experience had fundamentally changed the way he dealt with things and more importantly how he dealt with his fellow human beings. The incoming GSE Team was there to give us a presentation and to say thank you to all the Rotarians in 1130 who had made great efforts to get a programme together for their month long stay in the 1130. (Liliya I have a picture of the team that I will email) The Conference was also attended by Kay, our Ambassadorial Scholar from the USA. She was presented on stage to all the other Scholars and all were welcome by District Governor Colin Mathews. Finally, President David Formosa, along with all the other 1130 Club Presidents were presented to the DG. It was great to see all other Rotarians at the Conference. We really enjoyed it. It is those who attend who make the atmosphere for a good Conference!
