Malaria in Tanzania and other parts of Africa. Professor Dr. Chris Curtis from the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene on the subject of Malaria and his work with the Rotary charity R.E.M.I.T helping to eliminate Malaria in Tanzania and other parts of Africa. Prof. Curtis gave an account of the nature, causes, symptoms, and effect of Malaria on millions of people in many parts of the world where the malaria mosquito exists. He also gave a report on the most recent developments in combating the disease and the help given by Rotary clubs in Great Britain and Ireland. A short question and answer session followed. Prof Curtis was thanked by acting president Mac Purcell and Rotarian Brian Stoyel, one of the directors and a long serving member of the effort to eliminate malaria in Africa. The highest accolade, the Paul Harris Fellowship, was awarded to the professor in recognition of all the work he has done and is doing to combat Malaria.
