The Westminster Academy Meeting

The Westminster Academy Meeting

The Westminster Academy teachers are keen to continue and develop their relationship with Paddington Rotary Club. They invited Paddington Rotarians to have their weekly meeting at the Academy on Tuesday 15th July 2008. We met a number of teachers and administrators who gave us a guided tour of the premises and facilities. Our Club Speaker that evening was RI Ambassadorial Scholar Kay McClellan, who gave a report to her host Club on her year in London and her future plans. Dinner was served in the Academy restaurant. Previously Mac gave a talk on micro-finance to students and teachers at the Westminster Academy with the aim of starting a joint project with a school in Arusha in Tanzania. The Arusha Rotary Club, with which we have worked on joint projects in the past, will be our local contact Rotary Club. Mac and Tanya have raised £1000 from family and friends to fund the travel cost of two Westminster Academy students to Taiwan. This was in response to proposals from the Westminster Academy to send the students, who would eventually like to teach English as a foreign language, to travel abroad in order to experience different cultures and traditions.
